REVIEW PROBLEMS

• Test 1

  • Section 1.3:   8
  • Section 1.4:   5,6,8,9,13
  • Section 2.3:   3,4,5,6,7
  • Section 2.5:   7
  • Section 2.6:   2,3,4,9,10,18

  Solutions for the review problems will be distributed on Friday, January 29, in lecture.

  IMPORTANT: Test 1 has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 03, in lecture.

• Test 2

  Test 2 will cover all of Chapter 3 except sections 3.4 and 3.8. To review for the test, please look at the homework problems and the similar ones in the book.

  The test will have 5 problems, each one worth 20 points. The actual length of the problems on the test will be shorter than the homework problems - they will be ``one-step'' problems. The following review problems list. and the corresponding solutions set. should give you an idea for the length and level of difficulty of the problems.

  At the same time, you should keep in mind that the test will cover all the sections of Chapter 3 (except 3.4 and 3.8), which means that you should expect topics not represented on this review sheet (e.g. formulation problems) - for those just look at your homework problems.

  IMPORTANT: There will be a review session on Monday, March 15, 7:30-9:30pm, at PH100 (the usual lecture room).

• Test 3

  Test 3 will cover sections 4.2, 4.3, 7.2,7.6, and 7.7. To review for the test, please look at the homework problems and the similar ones in the book.

  The test will have 5 problems, each one worth 20 points. The actual length of the problems on the test will be shorter than the homework problems; most of them will be ``one-step'' or ``two-step'' problems, like in the previous test.

  Please try the following problems on your own; I will distribute (handwritten) solutions to them on Moday, April 19.

  • Section 7.7:   1,2

• Final Exam

  The final exam has been scheduled for Friday, May 07, 5:30-8:30pm.
  There is no special review list or review session for the final.
  To review for the test, please look at the homework problems and the similar ones in the book, also at thr review sheets for the three tests.
  The final exam will be comprehensive and will cover all the studied material from Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7 (Chapter 8 will not be on the final; Sensitivity Analysis - Section 3.8 will not be either). In length (number of problems) the test will be like two to two and a half tests. The length of each problem will be approximately like on the tests. There will be some short problems to solve completely, as well as some bulkier problems in which the solution has been already carried to some stage and you have to finish the problem. Three of the problems will be formulation problems, similar to the ones in sections 1.3, 3.5, and 7.6. It is advisable to bring a calculator (at least a four-operations one), you might need it for the knapsack problem.
