PILOT PROJECT BUTTERFLY

Schedule

June 18, 1999 All applications for participation in Project Butterfly must reach the selection committee in Windhoek.
June 25, 1999 Participants will be notified of the decision on their application.
July 4-10, 1999 The first campus contact session of the Media in Africa Education Program, Project Butterfly, commences in Windhoek. Participants begin the certificate standards and portfolio development phases. An assessment workshop will be held. Beginning lectures on Community Journalism will be given. Familiarty with the related field experience and topics for such projects will be discussed.
July 11, 1999 Participants prepare their portfolios for assessment according to the guidelines.
September 26, 1999 Second campus contact session begins. PARTICIPANTS ARRIVE. All portfolios are to be completed and delivered to the Panel of Assessment in Windhoek.
September 27, 1999 MONDAY: Assessment Training Workshop .
September 28, 1999 TUESDAY: Participants complete the final phase of the Assessment Training Workshop.
September 29, 1999 WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY Further preparation will be done on the Community Journalism Project. Participants will choose topics and begin development for fieldwork. Project fieldwork (3 days–29,30 September & 1 October.)
October 2, 1999 SATURDAY Participants refine community journalism project.
October 3, 1999 SUNDAY Final production of project.
October 4, 1999 MONDAY Project presentation and evaluations. Participant assessment interviews.
October 5, 1999 TUESDAY Assessment reviews. Appeals procedure.
October 6, 1999 WEDNESDAY Project certificate award ceremony.
