Associate Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry

Interests:

Hiking and Camping: have enjoyed lots of fantastic places "up close and personal" including Glacier National Park, Vancouver Island, Mount Hood, Canadian Rockies and the Swiss Alps

Outdoor Landscaping and Gardening: Provides a great outlet from being in front of the computer or grading exams!    This also allows me to express my more creative side.

Physical Fitness : Weightlifting keeps me sane and fit and also improves my performance when cycling and swimming (though I haven't done a lot of these sports the last few years).  Personal goal is to complete a full triathlon (15 years ago I completed two "half" triathlons)

Skiing:  Started skiing when I lived in Switzerland at the tender age of 20.  Now 20 years later it is my favorite sport  (both downhill and cross country skiing).  Still haven't skied the Rockies yet.  I am one of the moderators for the College's ski course (along with Dr. Shubert of the Math dept. and Skip Roderick, the soccer coach).

Travel: Travel bug really hit me hard while living in Switzerland during my junior year of college (University of Fribourg).  Since then I've traveled  through the western Canadian provinces (especially British Columbia and Saskatchewan), the Pacific Northwest, Ireland to name a few.  In May 2004 I will be participating in a May term program with 60 other people (including some Etown students) as we explore Russia and the Czech Republic.
