EXCEL TIP - Text to Speech
Proof your work

Problem:
Looking back and forth from the monitor to the paper with the numbers is tiring and time consuming. If you could get a person to read the numbers to you while you checked your work in Excel it would go much faster. But there is no "victim" in sight to help.

Solution:
By highlighting the range in Excel, then displaying the Text to Speech toolbar, you can have Excel read the numbers to you. The voice isn't exactly pretty, but it works.

Select the range

Text will also be read to you, though the pronunciations are sometimes hilarious

Display the Text to Speech toolbar

Menu: View, Toolbars, Text To Speech

Text to Speech toolbar
Click the Speak Cells tool to start reading

Reading begins with the first cell and proceeds to the next cell automatically. In the example, the order is: Elizabethtown, 18,901.00, Penn State, 200,000.00...ending with the last cell selected.

Close the toolbar when finished
