File Open or File Save As Dialog Boxes

Problem:
In Word, Excel or other Microsoft applications, you want to open files from your Private folder on the network, but it is time consuming having to navigate to your Private folder on the network from "My Documents" folder on the C: drive.

Solution:
Add the "Private" folder to the location bar (called My Places) in any Microsoft Office XP application's File-Open dialog box. This only works in Office XP.

How To:
In Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access - Menu: File, Open

Navigate to your Private folder

(The one with your email name and $)

Click once on Private

Click the drop down list arrow next to "Tools" inside the File Open dialog box

Click Add to "My Places"

The My Places bar appears on the left side of the dialog box.

The Private folder appears at the bottom of the My Places bar.

You can move the Private folder up or down on the My Places bar

Move folder Up or Down:

RIGHT mouse click on Private folder

Click Move Up (or Move Down)

Follow the above 2 steps as many times as necessary till the Private folder is where you want it.

ALL Office XP applications will display the Private folder on the My Places bar in File Open or File Save As dialog boxes.
