Reveal Codes in Word 2000

Preliminary Work:

Understanding combination keyboard shortcuts and Function Keys:

  1. Combination keyboard shortcut
    Hold down the first key, tap the second key. Let go of all the keys.
    Example: SHIFT + F7
  2. Function keys - on the top row of the keyboard. Example: F1

What's This Keyboard Shortcut:

  • SHIFT + F1

How to Reveal Codes for a Paragraph:

  • Press: SHIFT + F1
  • The mouse changes to a What's This Arrow (see right).
  • Click the What's This Arrow on the paragraph in question
  • A gray box appears, displaying formatting information.

Turn Off Reveal Codes

  • Press: Esc key

Reveal Codes in Word XP

Preliminary Work:

  1. Task Pane is displayed (Menu: View, Task Pane) on the right.
  2. Display Reveal Formatting Task Pane

How to Reveal Codes:

  • Select the text or paragraph
  • Read the information in the Task Pane
