VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

Department of Political Science

Elizabethtown College

This site introduces you to my research and teaching in political science.  I hold a PhD from the University of Wisconsin, Madison (2010) and a BA in political and social thought from Amherst College.   I began teaching at Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown Pennsylvania in Fall 2010.  My work focuses on American political development, historical change in public policy across different levels of government, legislatures and bureaucracy, political participation in America, and the role of women in the expansion of the American state.  My dissertation on public education and the role of women in American political development received the American Political Science Association’s 2011 William Anderson Award.  In addition to my  interest in American political change, I also study political theory and especially the work of John Dewey.
