Dr. John A. Teske, is Professor of Psychology at Elizabethtown College, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 USA, where he has taught since 1986. He received his Ph.D. in 1981 from Clark University.


His current scholarly interests are in philosophical psychology, and in the cognitive and neuropsychological requisites of spirituality, the evolution of mind, and the social and historical construction of the human spirit. He publishes regularly in Zygon: Journal of Religion and Science (he was recently cited as one of Blackwell Publisher’s 50mostcited authors), and in Studies in Science and Theology. He was President of the Institute on Religion in an Age of Science from 2002-2008.


He was recently interviewed as part of a video series called Matter and Beyond.


He teaches personality and social psychology, psyche and film, an interdisciplinary honors seminar on “neuromythology,” as well as logic and critical thinking for the philosophy department. He has published empirical research in environmental psychology, nonverbal behavior, close relationships, and in developmental psychology.


Dr. Teske is also an avid reader, film buff, and bicyclist.. He enjoys travel and spending bi-nuclear family time with the two children of his first marriage. He also enjoys literature, drama, and the arts, a good discussion, a good beer, or a good story.
