HTML Web-Page Design
Laboratory Manual

To use Dr. Wunderlich's HTML examples below, do the following:

• To see the page, just click on the link.
  
• Then, to see the HTML code, right-click and select view-source.
• To edit code, use a text editor like Microsoft "notepad" (find it under accessories from the start Menu).
  • If your browser is Internet Explorer, the code will already be in notepad
    when you view source.
  • If your browser is Netscpe Navigator, you will need to copy the code (that you
    see when you view source) into your text editor.
• To make it your web page at ETOWN, it is no longer possible
  to save files directly to our campus web server by placing them in your web (www) folder.
  The File Transfer Protocol (FTP) must be used to transfer files from your local computer
  to our web server. Follow directions at: http://users.etown.edu/w/wunderjt/FTPdirections.htm
  (If you don't have an Etown account, ask your web-server
  "host" administrator where to put it)
• After you have made your own .html file, you don't need to use the browser to
  get to the code to edit it; it is easier to just open a text-editor window (e.g., "notepad"),
  then open the .html file directly from that window. Don't forget that you must always save what
  you do in "notepad" as a .html file.
• If you have an Etown account, the URL to view one of your web pages over the
  internet is:
  http://users.etown.edu/XXX/YYY/ZZZ
  where:
      XXX is the first letter of your last name
      YYY is your Etown user ID
      ZZZ is the name and file extension (i.e.,"html") of the web page
  (If you don't have an Etown account, ask your web-server
  "host" administrator what your URL is)
• A copy of any image that is associated with any of your web pages must also be put onto
  our web server. To capture one of the images in the examples below (or any image on the internet),
  put your mouse over the image, then right click and select "save as." Save it to wherever you keep your web
  pages under development (with whatever image name it is referred to in your web page code).
  (If you don't have an Etown account, put images in the same folder that your
  web-server "host" administrator tells you to put all of your .html files)
